Ke$ha: The Story of the $, is a Funny or Die skit created in 2010. The skit is a spoof on the origin of the '$' in Kesha's name.

Synopsis[]

The skit begins with Ke$ha being interviewed. Ke$ha explains she had her birthday party at a pizza place called Shakey's Pizza. On the big sign, it read HAPPY BIRTHDAY KE$HA! The pizza place ran out of S's for the sign, so they used a $ instead. Since then, people would always call Ke$ha, "Ke-dollarsign-ha". Ke$ha goes on saying she originally wanted to be a CPA, but H&R wouldn't hire people with dollar signs in their names. She explains the struggles she has with her name such as souvenir shops never having her name on it, people thinking she costs "ha dollars", and pressing shift twice on a keyboard while typing her name, all because of a "fucking pizza place". Ke$ha's attorney explains there is nothing that can be done and that anything on the Shakey's Pizza sign is legally binding as it is in the constitution. Ke$ha tearfully says she just wants her life back before the interviewer says that they told Shakey's it was her birthday and that her nightmare was finally over. Ke$ha excitedly goes to Shakey's Pizza until she rolls down the window and sees that the sign read HAPPY BIRTHDAY KESH4. The same guy who explained they ran out of S's earlier in the video tells Ke$ha they ran out of A's, which leads to Ke$ha saying, "Fuck you!" to the worker. The worker says the Anchovies pizza is good as Ke$ha sobs in the car.
